Dudes,

Got my JCWhitney 7 leaf heavy duty CJ7 springs yesterday. Couple of questions. (If you've gotten them too)

1. Seems as though instead of a typical spring clamp, they've got some sort of a metal band around them. What did you guys do with yours? Cut it off and make a "proper" clamp (a U) or just leave it?

2. What the FU** are they coated with? MY hands were sticky? Grease maybe? I dunno. I'm considering taking them apart and painting them correctly.

Finally, spring plates.

I'm doing a spring over, and was going to make some spring plates. Any advice? I was going to use at least 3/8 plate? If not 1/2" if I can find some.

Thoughts?
