: Aussie Locker

Well, I don't know about the rest of you guys that have been sitting around all winter waiting for the Aussie gods to bless us with a couple of lockers, but I am tired of waiting. I ordered my Dana 44 unit in November, and still have no word of when it might make it here. It is nearly impossible to get anyone from Bill Cole's place to email you back, and the phone messages suck too. We are now in March, and I want to finish the project so I can go wheelin again.

So I am looking now for the best price on a lockright. Anyone has any suggestions where I can get the best price, lay it on me. At this point, money is less of an object, I am more concerned with just getting my hands on the damned thing so I can get back to work.

I ordered one a couple weeks ago and sent an email on friday to find out when they might be shipping, I'll check my work email tonight to see if they answered. They have not charged me as of yet.

This is for the good people of "Aussie" whom market a product as something it's not - ie Aussie.....:flipoff:

Anyone know if they're still in business?

I got email today from Bill confirming the cancellation of my order. Says they are continuing to struggle with manufacturing problems, yada yada.....

I did get an Aussie Locker for my front axle back in December. I haven't installed it yet, as I am waiting to finish the rear axle before I regear the front. It looks like a clean, well-machined unit. I don't have any doubts that it will work as well as a Lock Right.

porc contacted me right away after I messaged him. I like that level of customer service. However, Jeg's does have the best price at $193 for LockRight. Whatya say, Alex, can you keep up with that?

PORC is a local shope around me (hour and a half) away. Their service and prices are so good I basically drive past three different shops on my way there, that should tell you how good they are. In the local club I think PORC gets damn near 100% of the clubs business. They have and will continue to have all my business in the future.

Once again thanks for the quick turnaround on the gear work guys!!

Porc has given me pretty close to the best prices around on anything I've asked him about IE: RE springs, gears, carrriers, etc... unfortunately my plans have kinda changed and I'm not going to be able to buy right now ::(:

Gonna have to get in touch with my local Lockrite guy.... What a pain in the ass this is. I ordered one for my 30 back in September and it showed up in about 6 days, now I get a 44 front and I ordered it back at the beginning of february and still have yet to hear or see anything.
Bad business.

I just got an email from Bill yesterday that stated that he is supposed to be getting a shipment in sometime in the middle of April, and if I needed to cancel before then he understands and would cancel the order.

Wondering if I should wait another month for him to get them in and then ship them or cancel the order and get the Lockrite?

Here is what has transpired in the emails:

Chris,

We feel we are ok on that date, but we have had a number of slips by the
factory and the last thing we want to do is make you miss a trip or have to
go out unlocked. To be totally safe, we would recommend that you buy
something else.

We will cancel your order, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

It's a great locker....I keep saying it's worth the wait but the wait is getting pretty ridiculous. I got my front locker only a month after my order and I've been waiting on the rear for 3 months now....I love the front one though. In 4wd when off the gas there is no sign at all that it is there, but once you get on the gas it locks right up, never even makes a sound. I'm sure I'll like one in the rear just as much, but this wait is looooooooong.

Have you run a different brand lunchbox locker in the rear before? So far, the on road manners are good? Do you have a stick or auto? 4,6,8 cyl?

the oonly other locker that i have driven was a detriot locker, the road maners seem tobe almost the same, stay on the gas around turns cherp tires lay off pedel smooth, i running a auto trans (turbo 350) and V8 (327) in a 48 flat fender w/33's.
the locker is noticable while driving in town, not too noticable on freeway
