: Brake Lines for Dana Axles?

I have a few questions for you guys that have already swapped in Dana axles.....

How did you set up your brake system? What are you using for a booster/MC, how did you route your lines, did you switch to SAE lines or adapt the metric lines?

More questions as I get more info. Thanks.

I swaped in a GM Booster and Master, the lines, porting (sp) valve everything.
Just made an adapter for the Cruiser bolt pattern to the GM one.

What year did you steal from? I have an 82 Chevy MC that my neighbor gave me. I was thinking of getting the booster with it as well or just trying to adapt it to my 78 TLC booster.

How did you route your brake lines? Like the stock Chevy where you run 2 flex lines from each side of the frame?

I was thinking of copying the stock brake line routing of the TLC, but using SAE brake lines. So now I am looking for all of the brass T-fittings to split the lines.

I don't remember the year, but I pulled it off of a 3/4 ton van,, at p&p.
I would adapt the booster to the cruiser before I would try to adapt the GM booster to a cruiser master.

I copied the GM version more than the cruiser version. I have one SS Line in the rear that "T's" to the brakes. And Two SS Lines in the front that just go straight to the Caliper.

I also stoled most of the fittings from the Junk Yard.
I mean borrowed:flipoff2:

I was just at PNP at lunch checking out the braking setups.

Did you use the Big GM proportioning block? Do you have any pics of your setup? Got pics of your booster adapter or specs on it? Do you have rear disks as well?

I got one of those GM prop valves and some misc fitting adapters to connect 2 hard lines together.

Thanks.

Why don't you try using your '78 LC booster w/your Danas?
That's what I'm planning to do. Just cut off the metric ends &
reflair the tubes. I don't see why this wouldn't work unless
the LC booster cannot provide enough braking pressure to
fully lockup the brakes

I will probably try that first, but I don't have my front Toy axle any more or the brake lines. The axle that I am putting in is a custom axle with no lines so I have to make those. I was trying to stay away from flaring my lines (don't want to buy the tool if I don't have to).

Got pics of your booster adapter or specs on it? nope But if you wish I can explain how I made it.

Do you have rear disks as well? I'm working on that as we speak:D

I know this was a thread before, but if you do order a flaring tool, get a high quality one. I bought a NAPA one first... JUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then I got smart and got a Home Depot(Rigid) and it rocks. Although it is about $60 I have used it enough to make it worth it. It can put the bubble in fuel lines to keep the hose on, single flare for copper lines for A/C, and flare brake lines of course. You can also use it for sink fixtures in the house. Get one, then dont have to hassle in finding the "just right" length brake line and you can route the lines in the best places and not worry as much about having enought tubing...

Would you happen to have a part number for the Ridgid double flaring tool?

If you go to a speed shop they have adapters to go from metric hard lines to standard hoses. This is what I did on mine, leaving the stock master, booster and hard lines in place. I think it was like $40 per end for all the fittins and stainless braided hoses. Cheap and simple, don't get much better.
