just bought an 04 f250 sd fx4 , 5.4 ,auto,4x4 3.73's . and the 265 bfg long trail radials look cheesy . i did search through a few post and found a 305 75 r16 will fit,, it's 34.7" tall, the 265 is 31.8 ", and the 285 75 r 16 is 33.2". my question is for the guys with 285's on there f250's . if you had to buy new tires , would you get 285's again or jump up to 305' . i can trade my tires in ( less than 200 miles) and get 285 for $150 or 305's for $225. the tire i want ,bfg at's .thanks

I have a '99 350 that I run 285/75 tires on the stock rims for the winter and 305/70 tires on 16x10 rims for the summer. Keep in mind that a 350 sits a little higher than a 250 and I have the plow package on mine too. A couple of things you might want to consider:
1) The 305's will require at least an 8-inch rim.
2) If you are going to wheel it hard, I think you will run into some clearance issues with the 305 tires.
Personally I like the looks of the 305's on the truck with the wide rims, but I didn't want to mess up my alloys from the road salt during the winter. Hope that helps some.:D :D

my truck does have the snow plow prep package and sits level ( maybe a little nose high) i don't plan on any wheelin with it , just tow my junk to paragon/ tellico/ slade / etc... wonder if the 305's and the 5.4 will make it a dog on the highway w/ the trailer. oh yeah , it's my wifes daily driver, i'm stuck with the company service van:(

I have the V10 with the same gears as you. From what I have heard there is a huge difference in towing between our two engines. I have no problem towing with the bigger tires, but you might. I don't think you would be disappointed with the 285's. They fill up the fender openings fairly well and you won't have as much weight and resistance as you will get with the 305's. Just a thought. :emb:
