: A few questions about D300 transfers

Please forgive me for some stupid questions, I don't usually pay attention to Dana 300 transfer cases until now.

OTT Industries (www.ottindustries.com) has a new adapter that lets you put a Dana 300 behind a Toyota transfer reduction box.

So I have a few questions about D300s -

1. Can you have a D300 with the front output on the passenger side, AND the rear offset to the passenger side? I'm playing with the idea of putting FJ-80 axles under my Toy, the rear is full floating with disc brakes, but it's offset.

2. Does a "clocked" Dana 300 have better ground clearance than a Toyota pickup transfer case? The adapter that OTT is making allows clocking the 300.

3. Dana 300 is a STRONG transfer, right? Does it have any problems or weak spots?

Thanks for any info :D

d300 is a strong gear driven t case. clocking it allows you to run a flat skid and should be better than the clearance with a toy case. the rear out put is centered the front output is passenger side. the weakest part is the output shaft , but it is still stronger than most cases. you can upgrade the output to a 32 spline output that is the same output they run in the atlas 2.

Unless there's another D300 tailshaft conversion kit out there,
this one is only available for the long tailed cases :( I do not
know the exact mfg. cut off date for the short tailed cases,
but they were only produced in '80-'81 IRRC.

yea but the short version is only shorter by a inch or two, and the 4to 1 and HD output are made for the long more common d300
