HAS ANYONE TRIED THE 35 LB FLYWHEEL THAT LC ENGINEERING SELLS FOR THE 22R AND IF SO DOES IT IMPROVE PERFORMANCE:beer:

Move mouse to the up right of screen. Click search. Type flywheel. Limit search to Toy section only.

Look what you get: <a href="http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3680" target="new">Someone else asked the exact same question</a>!

It's amazing how everyone misses the 'search' button when they first start using the board. Does anyone know if Lance can "rewire" it so you have to run 10 searches before you can post?

:D :D :flipoff2: Welcome Newbie. You may oficially consider yourself hazed. :flipoff2: :D :D

I think it would decrease the ability of the engine to rev freely, however it will allow it to lug more :D:D:D. Newbie :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

well having done the exact opposite he's asking for, i took and put a regular 22R flywheel on a turbo motor (10-15lb difference) and that motor rapp's like no tomorrow... and in a hurry... but even @ 190:1 you can hear every cylender fire as it lugs, and ocasionally stalls...

Yep, thats about it. I've run both stock and 10# heavier and I found the engine was way less likely to stall down at low RPMs. Its a lot easier to control at low speed. Another benefit is that there is more mass to absorb heat, so the clutch stays cooler. Drawback is the engine revs up slower, but with 33"+ tires, that's not a strong point on a 22RE.

What did you call that David (drm)?............ a band-aid

Think of a flywheel as a battery, it stores energy, it doesn't add any. The heavier it is, the more it can store. BTW this is a simple explanation .............. NEWBIE :flipoff2:

Correct, added mass stores more rotational energy. The added inertia really does make a difference at low RPMs, it smooths out the 2 power strokes per revolution and makes stalling a lot less likely. I've run both stock and heavier and there is a difference. Before, my truck would stall pulling up my driveway in 1st gear at idle, with the flywheel, it'll just chug right up.

hey what does a 22RE flywheel weigh anyway? and does anyone know the bolt pattern dimensions?

Now that I think about it I've got a flywheel off of a 7mge and I'm wondering if theres any chance the two would be interchangeable. I'm kicking myself for not checking when I had my other trucks 22r out...

All I can say is I have seen it before. Make sure your bottom end is tight...LOL I mean main brgs. If they are not the rear main will leak so quick that your head will spin. Guess what? Then you will be doin a clutch job again. I have seen it quite a bit.

While you're searching... type in "CAPS LOCK" and see what it comes up with.

Why don't you just go ask DRM what he thinks about heavier flywheels. Better yet, SEARCH, and you'll see what he had to say about it last time somebody asked:D

Oh, BTW, Welcome:flipoff2: :flipoff2:

Stock is 25 lbs, 6 - 10mm bolts on a ~60mm circle.

I have tried both, and the best improvement was the dual cases and the gears. If you need more low end swap the 22R out. Just my 2c..:)
