Mark
woody 03-04-2004, 04:57 AM Arriving Moab area Sunday evening April 25th....departing for home Sunday morning, May 2nd.
There's another "official" Moab thread on ih8mud and another one here on Pirate, Jason M discussing his tri-tips. ;-)
ginericfj80 03-04-2004, 05:31 AM You guys are lucky. I'm going to make it down Thursday night late 29th or in the morning the 30th. And I have to head out early the 2nd. So I'm driving 11 hours each way for a day and half of wheeling. Not to mention I'm bringing my 14month (then 16month) son with me by myself. I'm beginning to question my own sanity. So I'm not going on the organized runs. I figured it would be selfish to keep somebody out who could be there the whole time. Really I could probably only make the Sat. run anyway.
fj40charles 03-04-2004, 06:32 AM Just got my CM04 confirmation postcard yesterday. I will be arriving on Sunday, 4/25 and leaving on Sunday 5/2.
Charles
I haven't bucked up yet, but I plan on going, several other TAC'ers are as well...
nuclearlemon 03-04-2004, 06:53 AM i've already been told i have to be there by the club and cruise moab committee...damn..guess i'll have miss work to go wheeling:D
So what trails are you guys running? Speak up, so I know ahead of time who to avoid...and vice versa:)
Live Rust 03-04-2004, 07:09 AM I'll be there Wednesday through Sunday. It's fun to see so many cruisers in one place. Taking lots of film.
Troy
TLCSKULLS 03-04-2004, 07:11 AM Got my confirmation card yesterday as well. I'm in Wed-Sunday.:D

Dre,
is the 4bt powered beast going to be ready? I'll be able to tell where you are by following rumbling ground...;)
I am seriously thinking of heading up for couple days...though not in my cruiser-trying to talk a friend into going.
Medusa 03-04-2004, 07:34 AM Sunday thru Sunday as long as Grogan keeps that black cloud in Texas:D
Jason M 03-04-2004, 07:41 AM Wed through sunday for me.
Tri tip Friday anyone?
ginericfj80 03-04-2004, 07:44 AM Friday night is the dinner and raffle isn't it?
Wed to Sunday for Cindy and I!
And yes Jason, I'll have some of that tritip!
But as Eric notes, I think Friday is the dinner/raffle...
I understand all LSLC signed up to run Elephant with us too.
I'll be honest, I hope to socialize as mush as wheel this year... should be something going on about every evening I think.
Jason M 03-04-2004, 09:00 AM Then Thurs night?
In front of the LSLC camp?
:D

Evening! Ha! Evening, Night, Early Morning, Run, Repeat! Some folks have to insert repair in that mix:(
dieselcruiserhead 03-04-2004, 04:42 PM Yes with luck Brett, I have been busting ass on it.. Plan is finish body work this week then take it to proffitt's next Fri/Sat and with luck it will be ready on Sunday for the trip home... Then mostly little stuff, interior, tuning and wiring. And put in some locked thirds (when I get a chance I'll give you a ring about that Mark Smith shaft that I'll need)... But yes I think it should be ready just in the knick of time!
dieselcruiserhead 03-04-2004, 04:44 PM PS yes I can't wait for Moab!
Brett if you and your buddie want to fly into SLC I'd be glad to pick you up and head down... My plan is probably along the lines of Weds-Sun...

Hmm... That sounds like a great idea. I will look at flights this week.
If all goes according to plan-which it mostly doesn't-TornadoAlley should arrive Monday...

farinvail 03-04-2004, 09:50 PM I've finally got my sh!* together at the right time of year. My truck seems to always be in pieces that week. I just got some new rubber and new seats. Added a CB. I'm trying to fix some of the little things bootiefab before I get there. Just got my congratulations card.

FreeRide 03-06-2004, 05:21 PM You know your prorties, that is good.
The cruiser will have to wait.
Cant wait to be home for the summer driving hank, perhaps youll have yours done by then and we can go wheeling.
Edit:
I hope to make it to Moab, but with out my cruiser. Just want to see all the cool ones that will be out
Radd Cruisers 03-06-2004, 06:01 PM Wow sounds like a good time, truck or no truck I will figure out a way to get my arse down thier.

now that the Round up is done, lets start focusing on Cruise Moab!
I have found out that a bunch of PMC members are making the journey... which will be great!

CaverInaCruiser 03-24-2004, 02:12 PM Me and SeldomSeen UncleFloppy will be there. We plan on coming down thursday night. I haven't gotten my confirmation post card yet. I do plan on helping where I can, though.
I am hoping for Hells Revenge on Friday and Golden SPike on Saturday, though, I am volunteering, so who knows what trails I will get.
Gotta get my rock sliders finished. I am doing this in preparation

Yep. I'm in.
I haven't received my confirmation yet and I'm just now starting a clutch replacement, Toybox install and axle overhaul but I'll be there no matter what.
I must admit though, I'm not looking forward to that drive again. 1100 miles across Ca, Nev, & Utah in an open top, 2F powered cruiser with unbalanced swampers is a tough price to pay for 4 days of wheeling. But if it is as fun as CM02 it will definitely be worth it.

No, that's the term we use for foreigners that visit and wear a hat.
Butch:flipoff2:
(raising hand) That's me!
You'll be seeing that hat in Moab... cause its my new official wheeling hat for 2004! And damn proud of it too.
JasonH 03-26-2004, 03:01 PM I tell ya what Tony, not everyone can pull off wearing a cowboy hat, but that one seems to fit you well.
I'll see you in Moab!
KOWBOY 03-26-2004, 03:03 PM Bossman just approved my schedule; I'm in Boys!! Looks like driving the ole company truck from New York City to Bonham. Load up on my staples of Skoal, flour tortillas, Shiner Lite, and ...oh ya... swap into the tow rig and head on. Let's see... couple days to TX, couple days to Moab (gotta be close to 3000 miles total).... reckon that puts me into Slickrock Sunday evening, the 25th. Most excellent.
cardinal fang 03-26-2004, 08:26 PM I will be there as a rider:p I am riding with two good friends that will be towing a 55 and 40. Both trucks are.....let's just say.... unique:cool: None like them anywhere else! Boy. it will be great to meet all you guys. :D
VooDoo 03-28-2004, 11:13 AM I'll be there, But I'm gettin' soft in my old age. I'll be towing my 40 this year. But I did drive it from Cali. to CM '99, '00, & '01. It's kinda funny, I'm doing easier runs this year when I can tow my junk home if it breaks. The other 3 times in moab I did the hard stuff(pritchett, upper heldo, ect.) when I knew I still had to drive it 900mi to get home:confused:
see y'all there, Phil :D
tornadoalleycruiser 03-28-2004, 03:09 PM geesh.. Considering I just got home from Texas last night and now about 3 weeks to prep for moab.. Should have just left the truck packed! i'll be there.. Definitely going to be some sweet rigs there!
nuclearlemon 03-29-2004, 05:51 PM i'm in mad panic mode to get the wagon ready, still need to build one of the 4.56's diffs and install it, modify arb bar to take the ramsey winch and get all that mounted up, waiting on the yellow top, was hoping to get trans/xfer out to replace rear main and seal between trans & xfer, but that probably won't happen.

dieselcruiserhead 03-31-2004, 01:44 PM Are you guys in slickrock for sure? Maybe someone should grab that campground (me??) out by the Pritchett entrace? Maybe we can have a big-ol web wheeler get together incase it gets too rowdy for Slickrock
Or not  :flipoff2:
texican 03-31-2004, 01:55 PM Someone in LSLC has us several RV spots at SlickRock, and one of the guys has a motel room.
Plans are to set the tent and Keg up in one of them
We talked about moving the LSLC to another location but decided we had rather be with everone else......
It is real fun when the entire camp is LC folks like BHCC and the Roundup!!
Butch
just buttoned up the tcase in the runner last night... now to the rear springs and rear third member.
My wife is having trouble getting the days off... figures. Folks are lined up to watch the kids for a week...
camper is on the truck, new curtains and what not, starting to come together.
taxes are nearly done... just need to pen them and ship on the 14th...

Right now I'm getting ready for a trip to Cailfornia and then Idaho. I'm leaving tomorrow for the Red Desert, then I'll be in Orem Friday at noon (to drop my truck at Royal's) then I'll be in Kali (and will pick up split rims at specter) and then back to Orem to get the pig, and up to Moscow to visit UofI on the 9th. Saturday and Sunday I get to spend the whole time driving the 1047 miles back to Cheyenne. :D

fj40charles 04-04-2004, 06:32 PM Anyone know what airline flies into Moab (Canyonlands CNY)? I 'm trying to get a flight for my wife, but I'm not able to see any airlines that fly into Moab.
BTW, I'll be staying at a Bed and Breakfast for 7 days.
texican 04-04-2004, 06:47 PM Jeff has a friend flying into Durango out of DFW, probably the closest, you might holler at him to see if possible to get them on the same flight.

As butch said, this is open to just about anyone that wants to show up. Just bring something (preferably a good beer of some sort but anything will really do) to share and an appetite :)

Thanks for the info on Salmon airlines and flying into Grand Junction. My wife will ride out there with me instead of flying since we're leaving on Monday 4/26 and arriving on Tuesday 4/27. Plan on doing Upper and Lower Helldorado on Wed.

Oh, I will be there for sure, but I may be in my Taco (hiking, exploring vs. wheeling). If school allows, I may take the Cruiser down... :D
4Cruisers 04-06-2004, 08:35 PM Take a look at this:

Everyone meet Scott Havis, one of my oldest 4 wheelin buds, he is also pres of the Houston LSLC chapter, great guy, but likes to run Pritchett backwards starting at 10 PM, and drink Boones Farm wine. And can tell a hair raising tale of why you need to always wear a seatbelt, even in the parking lot!!

What a great night run! I need one of those streamlight headlamps.

dieselcruiserhead 04-13-2004, 08:20 AM GF had knee surgury on Friday. I have not been able to work on the truck at all because of it. Jeremiah and I had agreed on this weekend (which will leave me exactly 1.5 weeks before Moab). Sucks, because everything is in place, all of my parts have arrived and I just don't have the time to get it done :( Not ruling it out but looks like my rig probably won't be ready :(
Havis 04-13-2004, 10:08 AM Sure hope you get it together! If not, come anyway, put the remaining parts in the back, and I bet you can find a few helpers to knock it all out in no time. (Look for the LSLC banner) I wouldn't mind helping. I have a few tools.
texican 04-13-2004, 10:23 AM Hey Scott did you find a hub?
If not you can either run my spare Asin at Moab or I have a spare set of Warns or a spare set of Bestop/Dualmatics.
Butch
woody 04-13-2004, 10:28 AM ditto...I carry a Warn, and have a couple Aisins laying around I could bring....
reminds me...outta scrap an Aisin for a spare instead of the Warn POS....another item for the list...
Havis 04-13-2004, 10:35 AM nope...no hub. I carry a pair of spare Warns, just in case. I'll probably run the one on there..it's been that way a while, I'm guessing. I may take it apart again and look. I'm going to drill out for larger studs anyway.
Havis 04-13-2004, 10:39 AM Still looking though....

dieselcruiserhead 04-13-2004, 12:01 PM Big thing with "this weekend" is this is the one for paint, otherwise it's bare metal and filler come Moab. We'll see, poor GF is pretty laid up but should be back on her feet shortly. Unforunately duty calls and of course she's having a tough time understanding why I want to spend all my time working on my truck instead of being there for her :( We'll see it's not totally out of the running yet. And I might just rely on you guys it sure would be fun to actually do some wrenching with all of you guys...
Berg's idea is to shoot it with primer. Which might not be a bad idea if I can't go this weekend... :(

Woody's "C" is going to come up with a pattern for my rig.
If I agree with it we might have a spray bomb party on my rig...
I kinda dig having a rig that changes color for every trail ;)

dieselcruiserhead 04-13-2004, 11:35 PM Was able to get on it tonight. Alan, I'll definetely take that seat :) Thanks guys and bummer, it was sort of something I was really hoping for but why rush, I have taken my time and tried to do it as best as possible with my budget and abilities so far, why half ass it for the last part of it... I'm schedule to fLy a trip on Tue and Wed and get home late Wednesday night. The original plan was to leave early Thur morning, have lunch in Telluride (Yes, taking the long way) and roll into Moab in time to check into the hotel and make the Potluck/beer swap at Slickrock Campground.
New plan is that I forsee I'll have a problem with my eyes (can't see going to work ;) ) on Tue/Wed and call in sick and slide the original plan up a day to make the Elephant Hill trip!!:D

Eric,
I have some LSLC and Cascade Cruiser stickers - where I'm an ass. :flipoff2: member of each!! I still haven't heard from PMC to sign me up yet!!;)
Oh, I adopted your cool magnet idea and just ordered a 4' long X 2' wide roll of 30mil magnet "paper"!!:D
ginericfj80 04-16-2004, 04:41 PM I've got a Cascade Cruisers sticker already and Butch promised me he'd bring some LSLC stickers.
I'd probably join PMC if they'd let me in. Heck, I'd join every LC club if they would have me. A lot of them have meeting requirements. You have a better chance with your profession of making it to meetings all over the country than I do.
Speaking of ideas: Go to a carpet store and get yourself some carpet samples. Last year's model or colors. Toss it in the back of your rig and then pull it out to lay on the tailgate when you need change Kaleigh. If you have too big of a nuclear mess you can pitch it in the nearest trash can and forget about it.

ginericfj80 04-22-2004, 01:17 PM You better watch it Sean, they might not let you hang out at the Twisterdome. What sucks is all you guys who get to go down this weekend and have a whole week, you're talking it up right now and then everything goes dead when you leave. And I'll be sitting here waiting for 11:30AM on Thursday to roll around so I can leave for my whopping 2 days in Moab. I get ticked that I only have 1.5 days off left. But when I remember that I used the other 1.5 days to go to Cruisin the Woods last fall it doesn't seem so bad.

Heck, I've been flying in/out of the STL all week. I thought I was already in the twisterdome!! :D
IF it makes you feel better, I'm all out of days of too!! ;)
dieselcruiserhead 04-22-2004, 02:15 PM I know, I would really like to get out early too... Looks like I'm done at work Weds night and will be getting in sometime around 10-11 or so if I'm lucky... See all you fawkers then! :flipoff2:
(Anyone coming through or want to car pool on this schedule?)
ginericfj80 04-22-2004, 02:38 PM Yes, but I can't call in and say my eyes are blurry and they send me home. HMMM! I did get sent home once for contracting pink eye, they charged me a leave day but what could they do if I don't have any? What would make my eyes pink on Wednesday and not hurt too bad? Only other option would be lice, and that sort of makes me sick just thinking about it.
Rascal 04-22-2004, 03:41 PM It's supposed to be raining here all day tomorrow - so the load up process begins :D :D :D

Are you driving your trail rig, Kowboy? Mapquest puts it at 2129.63 miles from NYC to Moab. You might be a candidate for the "Iron Butt" award! If not, who's driving their trail rig the farthest?
Jalapeno sausage on a stick? Tamales? Dang Butch, my mouth is watering already. I'll have to see what I can come up with. What day is the party again?
I'll be in Sunday and plan on pre-running Golden Spike on Monday. Can't wait. See you all then. :grinpimp:

turbo, 40's, coilovers and dual tcases are on going to be the flavor of the week ;)
Unfortunately, unless I find some enterprising shop or individual in Moab the 5.13's will not be in. So I will be running the 4.10 gearset..
