: Watching a porno and actually having sex..

Live feed, internet, in-car cameras. Is it worth it?

I've been working with a bunch of stuff for a while now. I think I've finally got a feasible technology, but would you folks watch it? Or better yet, would you get a few friends together and pitch in a few bucks to watch it on somebody's big screen?

(We would be able to make lo-res coverage free to the individual, but hi-res is MAJOR bandwidth hog. We can't provide that for free, sorry.)

There's just been so many dead end roads. I'm into this for a lot of my own duckets, and I'm getting discouraged trying to make it work.

I certainly don't want to take away from actual attendance, just trying to bring the excitement of Rockcrawling to the people who couldn't otherwise be there.

As I've said before: I've seen many rockcrawling events in pictures and videos, and been to a few in person. It's akin to watching a porno and actually having sex. If you can, go do it. If not, watch it.

(ps- personal note: I am the guy that covered the RCAA Finals in Farmington for Lance here on this board. Also, I feel that in-car cameras are the best thing to come to NASCAR since television itself. I think in-car cams could really put us on the map as a sport, and I want to be the first, and bring it right here on P4x4.

in car camaras would RULE.

or.. under car camaras... axle cams, tire cam, spotter cams... hell YA... mini remote controll blimp cam! tree cam (well, east coast at least!), omg. this would be the best thing since the shaffer's off road shopcam!

im thinking fox sports would cover that shizzat!

I'd be interested in seeing some live feed type rockcrawling for a reasonable fee. Living in Michigan means that it's not probable I'll be at a West coast event anytime soon.

I wonder how well in an in-buggy camera would work. It seems like it would be either looking at the sky or ground when anything exciting is happening.

I think in car sound with an external pic would be cool. Most of the time with an in-car cam you are just going to see sky in a rockcrawl!!

I think a good fixed cam that showed a GREAT view of the course with the sound from inside the cab would be cool. Most of the new teams do radios now....you might be able to scan that?

Having a website where you could flip around to the different courses to follow your favorites would be sweet.

I think better coverage in general would be nice. Nascar quality coverage is EXPENSIVE though....

I'm afraid rock-crawling might be as well, if done live. Actually, that's true of many forms of motorsports. All the "non-action" is edited out for TV. Would the same folks who paid to watch rock-crawling live "in person" sit in front of their TV for 6 hours non-stop, even if it were free? Only way I could see it work is if you had dozens of cameras & a director who really knew his schit and could bounce the cameras back & forth. In all honesty, it wouldn't be THAT much different than the golf scenario. You watch Tiger take his warmup & swing for about 30 seconds, then when he takes 5 minutes to walk to his ball, you're showing someone ELSE.

From what coverage I've seen on TV, Sports In The Rough seems to do it best because they don't spend too much time on any one vehicle. You might see Go2Guy for 5 minutes during a 30 minute show, but not all at once. Instead, it'd be broken into a dozen short segments. Keeps me interested. The Rock-crawling coverage I've seen on other shows puts me to sleep. It's all in how you package it.
