an uncut wagoneer or scout axle (go wagoneer if at all posible for alignment reasons) is a great width for CJ's. A few inches wider on each side is great for stability, flex, and clearance for tires

hell ya i would do both front and rear uncut, but i have the Dana 18, i have to retain the 44 rear, for the offset output shaft:confused:

Guess what? Most of the same Wagoneers that you find that passenger side front diff will have an offset rear to go with it. Some will be a Dana 44 and some will be an AMC model 20 which will already have one piece axleshafts and thicker tubes than the CJ variety.

so.... if i buy say a 1974 Jeep Wagonneer, it wont have a centered rear???

seems like 80+% of all the late 70s wags ive seen in teh junkyards are automatics with teh Qtrack, and offset rear ends.

buy a 75-79 wagoneer, and use teh axles, and engine, and possibly tranny Tcase if you wish, that way both axles are 6 lug, both are the correct width to work together.

use the above truck if you dont wan tto narrow the axles, if you want to narrow the axles or go really wide, then look into a 2 door cherokee with fender flares or a Jtruck of the same era, a J10 will have dana 44 front and rear ( like the wag/cherokee) a J20 will have 8 lugs d44 front and dana 60 rear.

they swapped to disk brake fronts in either 74 or 75, I said 75-79 just to be safe.

Don and I have met on several occasions, but we really don't know each other very well. He lives about a mile from me.

Yep look for mid to late seventies wagoneers both pumpkins offset to the passenger side perfect for you.
many people use this.

Wagoneers are very common too.
Heck just last week I saw about 7 Waggies at the pick N pull:D
