I am purchasing a 78 blazer for the drivetrain and was wondering, did Blazers all have the Dana 44 front axle GM12 Bolt?, or did some have Gm10 Bolts and what transfer cases did Blazers come with? The Blazer has a small block 400 and TH350 trans both axles have 3.73ratio and I know for sure The rear is a 12 bolt. Any help would be appreciated!

'78s have shown up with either the 10B or the D44 in the front. Just look at the cover, if it looks like every other Dana cover than guess what. If it has a more round shape it is the 10B. As far as strength it is a wash. They have the same week point, the 5-297X u-joint. With a TH350 it should have an NP203 'case.

My 78 K5 originaly had a 400sb, TH350/NP203, D44 front, 12 bolt rear with 3:73's
I only need one more piece of the puzzle and I will have all one ton gear under the ol girl.
Well I need to install 2 more to make it happen.
I have a 463 that is just itching to go in.
