Nice bunch of "bibles"... But talking about bezels!? My 1978 BJ-40 has bezel so that wider side is up and my other BJ-40 1975 got it other way? Never even thought about it before someone posted some Finnish LC pictures and first comments from US dudes was that bezel is upside down...:p

Imagine that!

LOL in my book I'm not sure but I might argue that either way goes... Oh well!

Crazy what your rig can do to me Kurt! :flipoff2:

Payback is a bitch... I'm thinking of turning your entire rig upside down using "TI"... wrap the cable over the top of your rig, down the side and then to the frame rail..... spool in and

hahahahahahahahaha

Better leep he in a safe place...

And Sean, your on my list too.... ;)

Finaly looking at a complete set of 1960's parts catalogs, it apears that the stamped bezel starting in Feb(or earlier) 61 and ended in October of 62. I recall 63 was mentioned as the only year with the stamped bezel? while I am sure that there are 63;s with the stamped bezel, I suspect they were left over stuff and were not made for a 63, but a 62/1.

picture below is from(published) Feb 1961 parts book.
62 shows the same(and part number is the same)
63 is normal bezel

I was thinking the 62 model year was the one for the stamped bezel, and the manufacture date would be from Sept or Oct 61 through Sept or Oct 62, but it looks like there was overlap.

And then, there were those rigs in the early 60s that were manufactured one year and had the little registration tag that would be a year (or two?) later.

My 63 has the stamped bezel, but my vin starts with a 2. Does that make it a 62?

Landpimp, if you ever run across a FJ25 FSM could you let me know? Trade you a '58 parts book for the '60? :D

Hey Landpimp, you gotta be the Jay Leno of Cruisers. I am sure no one has as much information or owns as many different models as you do!!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep up the good work, I enjoy seeing your posts as you are a wealth of information.

One of my very first customers had a 63 with the stamped bezel, the two sided front turn signals, an early two speed transfer case with the centered rear end. It was one of the hardtop models with the door pillars that stuck up 6" above the bedrails. I have those 6" pieces somewhere, after he took a sawsall to them!
After he sold the rig, he brought me the bezel. Some guy wandered in a year later and wouldn't leave without it. $300 later, he left with it; I still wonder to this day if I did the right thing.
