: Stock 55 springs

I was looking under my 70 fj55, and was wondering about my leaf springs. The fronts have 7 leaves in each pack, and the backs have 9 leaves/pack.

I talked with a buddy who works in a four wheel shop, and he thought that was too many leaves. From what I've heard, it sounds like I have either add a leafs, or aftermarket springs. When I bought the truck there was a Man-a-Fre sticker in the glove box, and I figured that could be what the springs are. But I really have no clue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again- :fj:

It is your buddy that has no clue.

That is standard.

These are VERY soft thin springs.

Check the uniformity of the springs, if they are all the same size and thickness and taper up form the spring perch, then they are the stock leafs.

man-a-fre springs for the 55 are the house brand and come in an 8 pack front and rear... they are also stiffer than the stock.
fyi

it sounds to me like you got the stock springs in there. Keep them.

generally the more leaves per pack, the better the ride, softer and more progressive the springs will be. unless you are having a problem with them, you have a great set.

That works for me. I wasn't sure what I had, and now I know. Thanks.

Jeez, now if I could only figure out what the previous owner got from Man-a-Fre.... That sticker is bugging me.
