Jeep body tub on F250 4x4 truck?

My buddy has come across a great deal on a F250, Ford 9 inch rear (or is it a 60?), and HP 44 front, great running gear and powertrain, body pretty beat up.

The idea is to rip the body of the Ford and install a Jeep CJ, YJ or Jeepster tub on the frame. I am pretty sure someone must have done this, any pictures and tips? What about registration, keep the Ford or go with the Jeep? He is in NorCal, so any other smog or DMV issues he would have to deal with?

Thanks,

Gui

You would obviously have to bob the frame in the rear and maybe the front. I don't think the wheelbase would work without major cutting of rear fenders. Sounds like a lot of work for something that seems kinda :rainbow: . Not to mention the registration/smog nightmare. Just bob it & make a flatbed and run it as is.

I personaly would rather swap the running gear over to the jeep than the frame and everything. Alot of the time is just doesnt look exactly right. So my suggestion would be run as is or swap the running gear.

I didnt think that the 9" rear was on the 250, I thought it was a 1/2 ton only deal?

It would be a 30 spline 60 rear. The 44 front is a good find so snag that and get a rear fron the junkyard and forget the swap. What PITA to end up with a :rainbow: rig.

There is a guy here in TX that has a YJ tub on an F-250 Cummins Turbo Diesel frame and driveline. That thing is nuts.
He lengthened the back of the tub. I don't really think it works like it should though. Too heavy. It's got the 49 inch Iroks on it too.

Yep,

I saw something similar on the Con last year, but looked very backyard fabbed, a CJ tub on a Chevy Chassis. I wanted to see some pics of how thse setup would or not work, and what he will need to do. Again, the cab looks like shit, but he is getting the truck for almost nothing, and YJ\CJ tubs are going around pretty cheap so that could be an option.

Basically a Jeep wanabee on the end, but I think if done right, could be pretty sick, or at least messed up enough that we can poke fun at the setup :)

Oh, and this one out here also has Rockwells, he has triangulated 3 link front and rear made with square tooooob.
He used to have a Shcedule 80 pipe exo, but he cut that off and made a real cage.
