Well I decided to push the rear end back a bit and that caused a bit of a problem with the 39" rubbers so here was my cure. I had to take a little off the bottom of the fuel door but what the heck why not. The new departure angle is great but I still have to go try it out in the rocks and see what I think.

How'd you get that much rear offset? It doesn't look like the brackets have been moved. Did you flip the springs around?

Yeah i turned the springs around. The center pin is offset 7-10 " I cant remember now. The bushings are different sizes so that was a little tricky do get it to work. But is should work out pretty slick

Sweet job with the sawzall!:D That wheelbase should stabilize things a bit for you. How much total did you have a stretch the driveshaft?

I belive the driveshaft was about 8" But it wasn't a problem with my new driveshaft strecher from harbor freight.:flipoff2:

So how are you keeping the diff out of the fuel tank?

The 78/79s might be a little different back there... but I can only move my rear back 2-1/2" before tank clearance becomes a big issue.

if I remember correctly he raised ithe tank 2 inches, but I could be lying. it's got enough of a suspension lift that it's not really a problem though. For being such a jackass he has a pretty nice truck :flipoff2:

Thanks for the comments dave :flipoff2:

Yeah as far as gas tank clearence I did raise it 2" because Of the body lift, it gave a little extra room and the diff just misses the tank under full compression. Luckely the bottom of the tank tapers back as it comes down towards the bottom so everything fits just right :D I thought I was gonna have to shave the top of my 14 bolt too at first. :P

Damn, looks good. I just completed a shackle flip on the rear of my Bronco (85 model), and was noticing the difference that the center pin in the rear springs is offset. I was thinking about flipping them for better departure angle too. What about the bushings is different from front to rear?

I like your shackle angle. I should have laid mine over another 15 degrees.

Nice setup.

Thanks,
DK

The bolt sizes front to back are different and the I.D. of the spring eyes are different. So you cant just simply switch the bushings around. One you can just buy a new set of bushings and use a metal seleve then put the bushing in and the right size of metal insert and it goes right in. The other one you have to grind a about a 1/4" around the whole thing on the bushing to get it to fit in there.
