: Looking for Nor Cal Shop for V8 swap FJ4ZROX 01-05-2002, 12:44 PM I am looking for a GOOD shop in Nor Cal (ie Sac or north) that can take on a Vortec conversion for a FJ80. The conversion must be smog legal and pass ref inspection. Any suggestions? My first 3 choices are either too pricey ($17k for a turn key job) or backlogged by almost 12-18 mos. FJ4ZROX 01-06-2002, 08:05 AM Thanx for the replies....makes me think I need to open a GOOD off-road shop in Redding (we have 3, but none that will take on MAJOR projects - ie SAS, SOA, v8 swap, etc..) Aggro - Danny is ALWAYS #1 or #2 on my list of people that I'd let work on my Cruiser (FYI - Mudrak is the other). Heck - I drove to P-ville 2 yrs ago to have Danny do the Warn FF and ARB's F&R on my FJ40. Unfortunately, Danny is the "spendy" option for the conversion, and Mudrak is ALWAYS backlogged. I'll give the others a call and see what I'm getting for my $$. I KNOW what Danny or Mudrak will give me - a factory looking V8 swap completely SMOG legal for Cal. Hopefully, the others will offer simialr quality without the price tag. Don't get me wrong, I think Danny does GREAT work, but I think the conversion could be done for less. Thanx again....and keep the suggestions coming. | |
