I have a 1980 4x4 with a stock 20r plus a header and exhaust. I have the stock air pump still attached to my engine and it got me to thinking the other day. why couldn't I run the output hose on my air pump up into my air cleaner (10 inch round edelbrock) to increase the volume of air that goes into my carb. Does any one know the psi that an air pump would put out? since most turbos usually don't put out much over 6 pounds, wouldn't an air pump help. I need insight.:smokin:

That'll gain you about as much as wrapping your lips around the exhaust pipe and sucking. :flipoff2:
Remove the belt. That will help with power

imma haffa go with removing the belts the friction is costs you more hp than you could ever gain through an idea
if the pump could magicly be turned into a ghetto supercharger it would have been done by every single one of us....
 ooh I know you could turn it into a bubble machine and fly through the streets in your magical bubble truck when your higher than a kite

;) :D

You would probably be better off running a hose into the cab, from the air cleaner and blowing into it. Actually, you could probably get better results that way. Hey, better yet, pull the fan of your proccesor in your computur and hook that up. :rainbow: :flipoff2:

You are a pretty brave :flipoff2: to be calling someone :rainbow: Things like that end up with Swampers on hoods and you wouldn't want that.

@ what RPM?? it's belt driven so it obviously pushes more air when spinning faster...
and it's VERY VERY low pressure, and since it's a compressor it does not push steady air like a turbo it goes putt putt putt like spinning an AC compressor with your hand you can feel every compression, same thign just super low spits of air, you almost cna't feel it in your hand if you hold the hose...
you will notice more power taking the belt off that wasting your time with this, think about it here... you going to push a minimal ammount of air into your air cleaner on a vaccum draw if your pushing these little putt's of air in then it's just not going to suck as much through the air cleaner

Besides that, if I remember right, it draws its intake air from the air cleaner. So the net result is 0.

Yeah, but you could sort of aim the outlet air stream towards the side of the intake and make it swirl like one of the Turdnado Fuel Saver things, probably get 20% HP increase with that
