how could anyone beleive this. this is from an action alert on the sierra clubs site about 2 strokes

Studies show that a two-stroke engine operating for seven hours produces the same amount of smog-forming pollutants as an automobile being driven over 100,000 miles. You can help stop this blatant pollution by implementing the following steps. Set emission caps on individual engines. Establish a nation-wide vehicle and engine-labeling program. Address noise pollution caused by these vehicles. By taking these steps you can ensure a cleaner, healthier and safer outdoor experience.

I wonder whose study this was ?

It is probably a bunch of misconstrewn data performed on some 50 year old 2 stroke running as rich as can be.

It is not that hard to "scientifically" come up with data like this if you want to. Al you have to do is want to get bad data and use bad test subjects.
