i was expecting to use ubolts like on my stock axle, but now the mating surfaces of the xj front driveshaft and the AA sye are the same. am i supposed to just run a bolt through the two or do i need to modifty something? i can try t oget some pics but i don't think the camera will be recognized on this computer to download them..

Unless I'm missing something the front driveshaft is not affected by the SYE. You should be able to reuse the same front shaft you had before. You will, of course, need a new rear shaft since it will now need to bolt up to a fixed yoke.

I believe he is talking about using the front DS on the rear with the new SYE.
If so, check this out...
XJ Front DS on Rear (http://www.jeepsunlimited.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=371387)
neither the SYE flange or the flange on the driveshaft were designed to be used with u-botls. Use the stock bolts that were on the XJ. Or hit the hardware store, pretty sure theyre a fine metric pattern

got it, i work next to unitrax, a high performance and heavy duty drivetrain shop. had them cut down the shaft, rebuild the 'cv' joint and replace the ujoints. it came out looking really nice and fits well. they also included the bolts. in my inexperience i hadn't seen a ujoint get mounted like that, but you're right, they just mount with bolts through the TC yoke and thread into the DS yoke. they were marked on the receipt as GM bolts. whatever that means. I'll pull one out someday and pick up some spares, and if i remember i'll post the sizes in this thread for future searches. thanks for the help guys.
if anyone is still reading this, is schedule 40 ok to use for a front driveshaft? i need to lengthen it, and i can do that one myself. so yeah, will sc40 work or should i just get some regular tube? not that much $ either way. was thinking of cutting and sleeving but will probably cut the yokes off and do it right with a whole new tube.
