: How to stuff a 37

I thought I would do some suspension testing today to see how the new JK Customs anti wrap works with the new longer shocks and mounts. The 37s stuff all the way to the bumpstops in front and clear even better in the rear. If these tires were a 1/2 inch larger they would rub. They will probably rub anyway if I try to turn radically and stuff it. But I wanted the truck as low as I could get it and still clear the 37s. The anti wrap bar does not hinder the travel at all.

What are the specs on that suspension setup? Any fender trimming? What backspace on the wheels? 15x8 or 15x10?

Nice rig:beer:

nice flares dude. What brand are they?

The suspension consists of OME springs dearched to close to stock hieght, all keeper bolts removed, Doestech shocks with 13" travel, no swaybar in front, rear swaybar has removeable links, tube upper front shock mount, rear upper mounts moved inwards, and CJ bumpstops that bolted right on F&R. The tires are available now from Goodyear and it seems the price has come down some. They are mounted on 15x10 junk wheels with about 3" of back spacing. I am very impressed with JKs work. He definately has the anti wrap bar figured out.

Looks like a 62 with 60 series mirrors to me. Correct?

60 mirrors correct. I had some of the aftermarket Aussie style but they were crap so they were sent back. Plus I used the panel where the swich was mounted for more important stuff. Whats behind me usually doesn't matter anyway.

502 Mercury. Light comes on in my head. Are you bringing that truck or your 61 to the Roundup? Both?

What are your axles in the 62?

VERY NICE !!!

I'll be on the lookout for more details. Engine swap, Klune V, etc.

Definitely want to see more of this truck!

And it's so clean.:D

Yeah, what flares are those? How much additional tire covered to get with them?

BTW, lookin' good. Inspiring for those of us who are SUA.:D

I'm bringing the 62...I hope. The flares are the ones that Spector has which are a copy of the factory ones like are on my 61. They do look alike but the mounting for the Spectors is really bad. Pretty much do it yourself with whats available to you.

Oh yea...they cover about 2" more tire. See my sig for more pictures and buildup.

We might be the only folks there that both have HJ61 flares. These are factory. And yeah, those are 33s, snicker away. :p

I have a friend pretty high up at Discount Tire that got them for me, but I understand that Goodyear has recently released a large amount for retail. My tires were made Feb16 by the code.

What are you using for parking brake???

waggoner5

Line loc on the rears. Its an auto, so it passes. I am considering a t-case e-brake in the future though.

tornadoalleycruiser
03-12-2004, 06:58 AM
Tcase brake. I would try and figure out a disk style. Man-a-fre is working on one but it doesn't look like rocket science.

Gary.. ? You getting rubbing issues on the springs when turning?
I thought I had the 35"s licked by adjusting the bumpstops but apparently missed an adjuster as heard them rubbing on the springs this morning leaving the convenience store.

I guess the question is did it cut down your turning radius much? or did you change offset wheels to get em outboarded and also fill the flare? I can wait till texas tho and just look myself! :)

YOur making all of us look puny!

waggoner5
03-12-2004, 03:14 PM
The wheels are of the 3" offset variety and I have not seen or heard the tires hit the springs on either truck. I have been hearing/reading this stuff and was wondering if I had done something different. I have the trucks bumpstops adjusted to where the 61 was when I bought it. It had 36k miles on it so I was sure it hadn't been jacked with. Both trucks turn about the same, not great, but OK.
The t-case brake shouldn't be too difficult to figure out. I just haven't had the time.
Puny???You?? I doubt it. See you in Katemcy

That is a very clean looking truck. I am always in awe when I see a truck that clean. I thought mine was clean but I seem to keep finding nicer/cleaner trucks out there.

I also heard it from Goodyear that the tires were going back into production but I found a set used here on teh board. The guy was loacl and they had like 2000 miles on em...new enough for my liking. Now I can't wait to get the truck back

They have come down in price quite a bit also. I paid about 170.00 ea. I have seen used for more than that. Thanks for the comments.

That sounds like as good deal. I got mine mounted and balanced along with delivery to my door for 200 each. I just had to have em now... Guess if I was more paient I could have saved a few bucks oh well

Gary,

Could you post a picture of the upper connection of this bar? I am going to be building a replica of this bar for my newly soa fj62 next week.

Also, instead of using a heim up to, do you think using a tierod end would work?

5{are you doing for a trans with the 502? adapted to the A440? if so, has Klune finnaly got the underdrive out for the A440? I have been thinking about one for my 62 but figured they would never develop one for the Toyota auto ????????
TIA,

Gary is running a 4L80E with it's own stand alone fully programable computer, thru a Klune V to the OEM T case.

I kinda figured he was running something like that. I doubt that there will ever be enough demand for Klune to develop for the A440.

Thanks for the info, maybe I'll look into a "Rock Box"

Thanks again,
Greg
