I am using the Advance Adapter plate to install a 700r4 in my '77 CJ7 with the stock 304 and I have ran into clearence issues. The AA plate will not clear the stock exhaust manifold. I have clearenced the manifold as much as possible but still can not get the plate installed on the block. I called AA and they said that they had never had a problem with manifold clearence issues. I plan on taking the grinder to remove about a 1/4" from the plate, but was told that the transmission will not clear either. Has anyone ran into similar problems? Is there another manifold that should be used to eliminate the problem? I want to be able to keep in frame manifolds.
