I have a 1982 Jeep Scrambler, with a 258 from a 1974 AMC Hornet. The exhaust manifold has a crack in it and I was thinking of replacing it with headers.

Any suggestions on types or brands?? Any potential problems since the enging is a 1974?

I have looked at cliffords and also at hedman which 4wd hardware sells.

Should I be looking for a header for a 1974 AMC Hornet or for a 1982 Jeep CJ... I know the engines are basically the same but....???

Thanks for any and all info.

A couple of my friends have the clifford headers and they are very pleased with them. They are inline engine specialist so i'm sure you can get right header. If you go to their web page you could cross reference and find the proper one.

Just Make sure the Head flange is at least 3/8" thick....if it's one of those thin pieces of sh%* buy lots of extra Gaskets..:D

Clifford makes a good one thats what we sell. I just shipped out one we had in stock, and took time to check it out. It's a three into two style thick flanges and looks very well made. I'd give it two thumbs up. If you call just ask for the Pirate4x4 discount ;)
