almost done just got to put new seals in where the shifter rails come out. how do you get those things out anyways? take the bolts off and pull the springs out. then what? just wondering if theres something i should know or if theres a trick to it. i dont want to bugger anything up. any help would be great. thanx.

Pull those bolts, the springs, then there's a detent ball down in there, too. (Magnet or flip over the box)
Then about an inch farther back on the top of the case, there are freeze plugs (1/4" dia) that give access to the shift fork pins on the shift rails. Those pins are hollow tubes, so you have to find a drift that's small enough to fit in the rail, but not so small as to drive itself into the pin. I used an old drill bit here, actually.
Once the shift fork is loose, the rail should pull straight out the front.
