Hey guys, i did a search on fuel filter, looked through 7 pages of stuff, and no avail, im hoping you can help me out:

So i got a new fuel filter at kragen, located mine, and attempted to put the new one in. No go. How is this accomplished? A lot of twisting and pulling, hoping itl come out? I cant seem to get it. I also got those quick disconect thingies, but they didnt seem to help much. Its for a 2.5L if that helps? Any ideas would be greatly, greatly appreciated. I can get pics if necessary, just let me know. I really appreciate you replies, thanks a lot.

you got "which" disconnect tools?

the ones you need are the ford and a/c tools, they go in about 1/2-3/4" or so.

you put those around the fuel lines, slide it in, and wigle a bit, the line should pull out.

make sure you releive the fuel pressure first

There like what you describe, in a 5/8" fitting, ok, i just need to give it more elbow grease, also, how do i relieve the pressure, i didnt see how to do that in my manual. Thanks a lot

Did the new filter come with two little plastic horse shoe shaped clips? I'm guessing so since all the newer Fords I've worked on were this style. The spring lock tools don't work well with these clips. You need to take a small flat head and pry/pull them out. The little barbs on the ends of the clips usually come out broken which is why new ones should be supplied with the new filter.

no the newest setup is the a/c style connector.

my 93 has the style your talking about...

to relieve the fuel pressure, either find the fuse for the fuel pump and pull it out while the truck is running(or while it's off and crank it over a few seconds), or trip the fuel pump safety switch the same way.
