My buddy got a 82' F-250 for free a while back, with a tired straight 6, NP 435, and a semi floater rearend. The truck is a long bos, reg. cab. GVWR is 8200lbs IIRC. Since it has the 300 in it, I would assume the rearend would be geared pretty high. This means it could be a dana 61, or a dana 60, or a sterling 10.25
Does anyone have any Ideas what it might be? and if it's worth anything? I rember hearing about a 35 spline, SF dana 60..
Ideas?

being a semifloater it with a 6cyl it can be a 8.8 with 8 lug flanges
or a dana 60
not sure about a semifloat 61 though hope it not one of those anyways
typical ratios were either the 3.54/3.55 or 4.10
the 10.25 didn't make it till 84 in some of the trucks and most of the truck in 85
with that said anything can be swapped :D

hmm.. never heard of a 8 lug 8.8... and being a 82' they still used the 9" back then.. I'm just trying to find out if this thing is worth swaping inplace of my 9"
2wd bet its a 61 pull a shaft if ts not 35 spline why bother :p

if my buddy didn't blow up his 8.8 8 lug I would have never believed they existed I worked in a wrecking at the time
he blew the ring and pinion came by looking for a rear I went and looked and it had a 8.8 cover did some search on it and found out it is the low GVW rated trucks that got it I sold him a semi float dana 60
by the way his truck was a 83 so your 82 shouldn't have a 8.8 but
it is something to watch out for

If it`s a Dana 60 it will be cast on the lower right web, looking from the back. Later Willis:beer:
