: Having some trouble rebuilding my 60s....

The gears and diffs have been setup, but they need new bearing, brakes, etc etc. Ford 60s by the way.

I'm having a bitch of a time locating parts. All the stuff I find is for a HD D44 front or a semi-float D60 rear. I have a HP D60 front and a full float 60 rear.

Basically I need new:

Front:

Hubs (the ones that are pressed onto the rotor)
Spindles
Bearing for inside the spindles
Spindle Nut kits

Rear:

New Drums
New Shoe sets
New Shoe spring kits
New Wheel cylinders
New Bearing seals
New Spindle nuts

So if any of you happen to have part numbers on any of these, PLEASE email me, PM me or post here. I would REALLY APPRECIATE IT!!!!!

Aren't there any good parts stores where you come from?? Most of the stuff you just listed is normal stocking parts.

If your parts guy is a dumbass, then use a late 80's F-350 for the application, a select few of those had a 60 in the rear too. Or for the rear just use a late 70's F-250 or so....should be able to find all that stuff easilly.

If it were that easy I wouldn't be posting here asking for help...

The problem is that the computers are throwing up the incorrect parts based on what I have. I have 60s from a 1979 F250. The computers must be set to throw out HD D44 and Semi-Float D60 part numbers.

I've tried using the F350 as the vehicle but it's tossing out D70 part numbers for the rear.

So rather than pour through books and books at the parts store wasting my time, I figured I'd ask here and see if anyone had the part numbers for the parts I need on a receipt or written down somewhere.

So what your saying is that your parts guys don't know how to read a book, and your too lazy??? Just checking, sorry for wasting your time reading my post. I didn't realize that was the situation you were having. Around here 5 minutes in a parts book is time well spent when you get the right parts!

Lazy...sometimes. But I didn't think asking for help from people who have rebuilt their axles recently and may have part numbers around was lazy.

When it is Sunday and all the parts stores are closed because it is 6pm, making a post like this might help because then when tomorrow comes I can hopefully wake up and go to my local parts store with a list and get what I need. If I don't THEN I will hit the books and hopefully will find what I am looking for.

See, out here in Kentucky, we don't have quite the variety of parts stores you do in California. On Sunday before they close, every single 1984 Chevy 1/2 owner is looking through the books for that raccoon skinned headliner and I don't have the time to wait around for them to finish.:D

Point taken, around here they just all sworm around the neon light, and sticker displays!!!!:D

Get me the bill of material numbers off both the axles and I will get you the Spicer part numbers. OR, call Dynatrac.

Write down the part numbers from all the old stuff, hand it to the counter man. If you can't find the pn then take in the old stuff. If the guy even breaths giving you a hard time go to a place where they want your business. Even in a small town you should have everything you want in hand or on order in a couple of hours on a Saturday morning.

The problem was that some of the bearings and such still had original Ford engineering numbers on them and couldn't be cross-referenced.

After looking through the big book for about 20 minutes we found out what the rear axle was.

1973-1975 F250 2wd with single piston front calipers. That used the 12 1/8" x 2" drums. Drums were $73 each so I decided to wait and see if I can get them cheaper somewhere else. That plus the fact that neither our local Pep Girls and Autozone can get the brake hardware (springs, other internal parts). Napa is a last chance resort because I like the money in my wallet.

So I think I nailed it, but I am now considering going to rear dics because the costs look like they may be identical.

Either way, I now know what bearings, seals, etc etc they need and can get a list going.

Good you have a start. For brakes you should just go with a disc setup. Front Chev rotors from a 3/4 ton and you can use the same calipers with a home made bracket or you can buy them pretty darn cheap here http://www.aa-mfg.com/
If you want rear e-brake calipers check the pull it yards for the big rear GM cars with discs. ElDo's and Riverias. Good luck.

Have you checked partsamerica.com, autozone.com, wrenchhead.com, carparts.com? Sounds like your problem is that you haveN'T gone to Napa yet, they're usually really good with drivetrain parts IME. I take it that you think Napa is a bit expensive, and I agree, but the quality REALLY IS higher IME. Sometimes you get what you pay for.

Don't you need a special proportioning valve if you go discs in the rear?

consider it an f-350 front and an f-250 rear, i dunno why it things semi floater, the f-250 should have ff rear. (:rainbow: autozone.)

try 4x2 f-250 for the part numbers for the rear, might work for you.

Bearing for inside the spindles Comes inside the new spindle, but SBK3 is a part number.
Spindle Nut kits Ford part number D8TZ-1197-B

BTW, a 73-75 F250 rear 60 should be 16 spline... is yours? if not someone may have changed the brakes out for some reason.

It's 30 spline, but those shoes and drums worked.

I think I am just going to go to disc and eliminate the hassle and spend a little bit more.

On another note, I do use Napa as a last resort. I just hate going there because they usually have a pretty pissy attitude, whereas the guys at other places (Autozone, Pep Girls) are usually more than willing to help out.
