When performing a mini power steering conversion, I know I need the steering mount bracket from BTB. My question is with the pump mount. I have a F engine, ant the alternator is still in the factory position. When I get the steering box and pump, should I also grab the pump bracket. I am guessing I will have to relocate the alternator to the passenger side, and mount the pump on the drivers side, both brackets requiring fabrication? Any info or measurements will help. I would do a saginaw conversion, but I am getting the mini stuff for free.:D

On my '71 FJ40 (has a later 2F with 2 wide pulleys on the water pump and crankshaft, but the F alternator was still on the F bracket in the original position), I used a 2F alternator on a stock bracket on the passenger side (just had to re-route the wiring).

I used an '85 mini-truck PS gearbox on a custom bracket and a mid-'80s Tercel 4WD hatchback PS pump on a 2F smog pump bracket (on the driver's side). I had to make a few small modifications to the bracket and pump, and add a sleeve and spacers, in order to get a long pivot bolt to work. I used the mini-truck high-pressure hose. Had to flip the PS pump pulley over to get it to align with the crankshaft pulley, and had to shop around for the correct length PS pump belt from NAPA. For the pump adjusting bracket I used a PS pump adjusting bracket from an '80s Cressida (had to grind off a little to clear the belt), and used a long spacer bolt that doubles as a water pump bolt (had one from an early '70s FJ55 F engine out in the garage).

Sounds complicated but I didn't have to make aany custom mounting brackets for the 2F alternator or the Tercel PS pump.
