So I am looking at trading in all my cars and trucks for a new tow rig. I have a 1997 Yukon, and a 1991 F250 diesel that I want to trade in for a newer truck. The deal is my girlfriend has to be able to drive this truck as well, just in case, so it has to be an auto. What do you guys recommend. I don't want to drop more than 20-25,000 on a truck. I was looking at a 1999 or newer F250, a 1994 or newer Cummins, ora duramax. I am pretty sire the Duramax is out of the question, but the Dodge is looking good. what do you guys know about the auto's in these? Also, what is better, the 16 valve, or the 24 valve. How about the Powersmoke? I need and want all the details possible,

Dima

GM has the best auto with the Allison until the Torqueshift from Ford. Dodge's and Ford's (before 2003.25) auto's are crap.

Dodge only had a 12 valve until 1998, and 24 valve 98.5 up.

Try to find a low mileage stroke or a cheap CTD and beef both trannies. The CTD is better bet overall if you spend the cash on the tranny
