Not too familiar with the isuzu line of diesels and was hoping to pick your brains on the issue. Scored a 82 chevy luv 4x4 diesel with a rotten frame but all drivetrain is good for a case of Milwakees Best from a buddy. I'm thinking Sweet.....He said it got 50+ mpg but had absolutley no power. What's the displacement and didn't they offer this engine with a turbo option? Thinking maybe turbo/intercooler/propane, and swapping it into an 88 trooper II i've got.
Thanks in advance;)

You didn't mention whether it was turbocharged or not.
Their were only limited diesels sold in the US. Some great ones were available overseas.
Stateside, in the troopers and pups and luv's it was the C223 and C223T diesels. These were 2.2 L and the most power they put out was about 80hp and 127 lbft of torque.
They also had a history of breaking rods. therefore they had 3 different rods. Some stronger than others.

Yah it is the non turbo version(C223). Thanks for the HP , TQE numbers. So i guess it wouldn't be a good idea w/the weak rods to shoot some propane to it:D Any way to upgrade the rods to a stronger version?? Oh well maybe i can find a luv or pup with a good frame and swap drivetrain.
Thanks again for the info

Jerry LeMond can probably get you a set of 2.0 rods. but it may not be worth it.
Try to get your hands on a 2.8L engine or 3.1 or 3.0
Canada or Mexico...
2.8 was available in mustang skid steers too.
4bt cummins would be a good choice. Jerry's got one of those too.
