does the 89/90 tracker with an automatic tranny use a spacer plate between?

my friend just bought an engine and tranny for his sammy (1.6) we put it together, and the tourqe converter is pressed up againt the pressure plate so hard that we cant spin it to line up the bolt holes, we made sure the converter was all the way seated....so i figure that its because it doesnt have the spacer plate, but he was toled that the 89/90 didnt have this plate.....


anyone know if it does or doesnt?

there is a spacer between the flex plate and crankshaft, I just found out the hard way but the flex plate was tight against the block. Almost sounds like you have the flex plate backwards. Also, the flex plates are different between the 3-speed and 4-speed automatics and are not interchangable. Make sure the touque converter is fully seated into the transmission.
