: atlas rear output vibration?

I developed a rear driveline ? vibration on my TJ (atlas/d44). I drove it to work a few times...yeah yeah dumb fawk I am....and blew the rear pinion oil seal.

Found that one of the bolts holding the driveshaft on the atlas had worked loose and fallen out. Figured it was the cause for the vibration, replaced seal and all 4 bolts at the flange. Took it for a test drive and the vibration seemed to be gone.

Drove it to work the other day and vibration came back. More noticeable at higher speeds and especially under load.

Removed driveshaft tonight and noticed a slight slop in the rear output shaft of the Atlas. Not visibly noticeable but I can still feel a very slight side to side play in the shaft. Im guessing this isnt normal.

Did I screw up the Atlas output or is it possible that this was the cause of the original vibration problems?

I drove it on the highway with the front axle...rear driveshaft removed...Fun in a TJ with a front locker......and didn't notice any vibration.

Thoughts suggestions

Did you replace the rear output nut? I believe this is a one-time use nut I and will not stay tight if removed and reinstalled. (I could be wrong)
