Can an RS 9000 be run with the can down or the shock upside down?

Please don't flame me...:D

yes but its seems to change the dampening some. I had mine with the shaft down for a while and it would ride way too soft even with the knob cranked up all the way. Once I fliped them the correct way I could get it where I wanted it.

They lose most of their damping on the compression stroke when upside down. They do not work well that way.

I didn't particularly care for them even right side up, either. What faults I found probably won't matter on a non-DD, though.

when I got my 9000s back in 93 I called Rancho and asked them
if I could run this shock upside down as I want the little knob up and out of the way they said it will work the same right side up or down it doesn't matter that is what the Rep told me
I am happy with the performance of them

I ran my 9000's can up for a while, and they had a 'dead spot' in their travel. Shock would compress 1"-2" before it started to damp.

Not sure why, I thought maybe some kind of air pocket, but it never got better, so I flipped them back over

Worked fine afterwards.
