I have a 1970 for with a 429 w/ a motorcraft 2-b carb. When cold, it starts great, but after it gets up to full operating temp, and I shut the truck off, it is hard to start. It seems to flood when sitting, and when I try to restart it, I have to floor the throttle to get it to start! After that once I get the motor cleared out, if runs fine.
Thanks
Do you have the stock aluminum spacer between the Carb and the Intake manifold? If not then get it installed. the cast iron manifold is transmitting too much heat. If it is installed, then look into changing to a Phenolic(sp?) spacer. These are a Resin/Canvas composite. it is an excellent heat sheald. Any good Speed Shop should have them. Also I've seen a simple sheet of steel inbetween the carb and spacer. it extendeds about 3" out all the way around. They are also for sale at Speed Shops. This all asumes that the engine turns at full speed when trying to start when Hot. If it turns slower when hot than cold then look at changing the starter. it is about to give up the ghost.
Good luck.

Thanks for the info. The starter spins just fine, cause I just had to replace the starter, cables, and Battery. A weak starter, plus weak cables caused me some major problems, so all of the cables are doubled up. :D I don't beleive that I have the spacer, I will have to find someplace online that I can get one. Anyone know of a place?
Thanks

Or, how about a place to just get the material to make the spacer, that would be just fine, if not better!
Thanks
