Dustin is building on exocage on my 85 runner. For those who don't know, Dustin Emick is the guy in the green 94 Toyota that took 9th place at the first Calrocs event. He's using his JD-2 bender and brand new Miller 175. Here's some pictures. More to come as more gets done... :D:D:D

I SO love that runner. its SO cherry. I for one am going to cringe the first time i see pics of any Whoopsies.

I hope theres going to be some "A pillar" support in your design...

I have to say you are the FIRST ive seen whose exoing OVER the fiberglass, usually everybody has lost thier top by the time the tube bender gets turned on.

For me, Id love to run a Can-back and an exo...you might be showing me how do design the cage to do just that.

Well, the whole idea is to keep the body damage to a minimum. Especially in case of a 'whoopsie'. :D I wanted to keep the hard top on it, at least for now. Good for sleeping in the back. We're leaving room to slide the top out the back in case I ever wanna take it off and put on a can-back or something. It has a ways to go. Front bumper is gettin a facelift too. Stay tuned.... :D:D:D

hope you leave clearance to LIFT the top that inch or so to get it to clear the two locating pins before you start moving it in any direction.

LoL!!!! We used a cold chisel and a BFH. :rolleyes: Missed the chisel a few times and put several huge dents in each side:eek: but we got em off. Hehehehe!!!!

I'm kidding guys... :D We didn't 'cut' em off. We used a wrench, ok... :p

Keep me posted I'll be doing Exo over hard top too soon.....just gotta get the time to continue bending......looking good so far....:D :beer:

I'm not a huge fan of exo cages either, but so far that looks like one of the cleanest examples I've seen! I really dig the halo design!

:D I wasn't too convinced about the Halo design at first but after Dustin got it up there, it looks pretty darn good... I think he's gonna do a nice job... Here's some more pics of him having fun..:D Nothing like grinding and welding in the dark. Love all those sparks... LoL!!!

We have been 'Toying' :rolleyes:with the idea of a removable rack. Definately keeping the option open. As for a 'Bobjob', not a chance. :D My air mattress wouldn't fit. :laughing: Sheesh, I must be getting old. Comfort is becoming more and more important. :D:D:D

Looking good Glen. Dustin's a neighbor of mine, lives right around the corner. Good guy for sure. He'll get it right. Too bad he did'nt do his own cage awhile ago on his own rig, I think his rocker panels are about 6" in from where they should be. LOL.

Bob, I'm sure you could do a better job than most anybody, what with all your experience but I think Dustin will do just fine. His shop is right near my house and we're doing it together so we are both learning something. Sorry, I didn't realize you put me on a 'waiting list'. :(
