are heims acceptable to use in place of tre's? i read that page of billavista's and saw he used them for a while but i did'nt catch if he changed to tre's because hiems are safe or if it was some otyher reason

I believe they are not D.O.T. approved, but get the strongest ones you can find and you shouldnt have any problems. I've had one on my drag link for over a year now with no problems.

I've seen 2 different types. One looks like it uses a pressed in insert to retain the center section. The ones I have on mine are more expensive and have a notch cut in the outer housing and the center section is inserted sideways and rotated in place. The first type would seem to be able to pull apart if severe stress were placed on it, which would be a little hairy if it decided to come apart on the freeway. I don't remember where I got mine. Do a little research.
