pretty self explanatory. id like to run a SBC in a cj7, while using a stock th400/dana20 combo(for the shortest length) ive found amc combos, as well as the earlier combos with the BOP pattern. does anyone make adapters for these transmissions? novak said they DID NOT.

the reason nobody makes the adapter is because there isn't a market for it. simply get a chevy th400 and use the tailshaft from you amc th400 to mate it to your dana 20 and the trans will easily mate up to your small block.

Just swap the case, no adapter needed! By the way this is not the shortest slush box combo either...

Any TorqueFlight / 300 combo is shorter.

Yes there is an adaper made, but why use it if factory parts are available? Swamping the case you have to tear the whole thing down, yes it's a bummer, but you also have to put it bacl together repairing or replacing any defective or damaged parts. Then you know what you've got.

Some of the early Th400's used in jeeps used a small adapter to adapt the Chevy bolt pattern to the AMC pattern. Later, AMC had TH400's made that did not require the adapter.

Run the 727 TF it's as good if not better, it's shorter and came stock in Wagoneers. You could get one in rebuildable shape for $100 if you look around.
