Would there be any way you could take a Holly Quadrajet-TBI adapter, slap on a TBI unit from the various vehicles within a salvage yard, get a stand alone harness, and run TBI on an older Buick engine? Yes you could initially install one of the later model Sequential Fuel Injected engines but I've already got a 79 motor built up and ready to go. Was just curious if anyone has attempted this or even considered it?

Sure anything is possibile - 4.3 chevy stuff would work best, get all then stuff - prolly could get the stock harness too work too - if now go custom harness

I used to know a guy in town that injected his 231 like this - ran great too
Or can buy one of those universal injection kits threw holley - theres one that could work - i forgot which one it is though ( i was thinking of getting it for my 4.3)

Let us know if you try this. I would be interested in doing something like that to mine.

Well, it won't be for a while, its one of those "I'd like to have that" kind of things...I've yet to see how my current setup is going to run, the weather around here is hindering the reconstruction of my truck.

It'll be a lot easier if your engine is even-fire and not odd-fire. You'll have to know before you start. You should be able to cop 4.3 stuff if you're even-fire. Might be able to convert your big cap HEI dist. using early v-8 internals. Or chop the top on a 4.3 distributor and weld it on your bottom. Or call Performance Distributors in Memphis and see if they can convert one for you. If not, good luck.

My dist is already HEI with vac advance? I don't get what you mean, to modify it so its not HEI anymore? Why would i wanna do that?

Early Tuned-Port v-8's used the big-cap HEI. Later they converted to the small-cap. The distributors are the same between tuned-port and tbi. Neither have vac advance. You will loose that if you go to tbi. What I meant was you might be able to take a big-cap fuel-injection v-8 distributor and swap the internals into your big-cap even-fire v-6 HEI. If not, then maybe cut and weld a 4.3 small-cap top-end onto your big-cap shaft.

the 1984&1985 buick 3.8 multi port efi motors use the same top end as the earlier 3.8s therefore all of the efi components will retro onto the earlier 3.8s including distributor. provisions for knock sensor must be made, these were used in buick century's,park avenues and some oldsmobiles. allwere equiped however with auotos not manuals, camshaft sizing needs to be moderate.

Does that mean with my '76 odd-fire engine I'm out of luck? Maybe I'll just stick to my Holley/Weiand combo.
