I like it. The kit was easy to install and the YJ's ride extremely smooth. Haven't had a chance to take it offroad, yet, since I'm waiting on shock mounts and shocks. Looks good, though. ~Steve
zuk88 01-07-2002, 04:52 PM Everything went in easy, even with the 2" lifted springs. I have not had a chane to drive it yet. I'm having the bumper brackets on my RRO crawler bumper moved over a bit to fit the new kit(thanks MJDan) and I have to replace the front u-bolts with something with more beef! I stripped a couple nuts on the drivers side. I guess its time to upgrade the stock junk anyway. She's getting tall, and makin' those 31"s look tiny.
Scwafish,
When I get it on the road I'll run it by and get your .02. The old girl is nowhere near as hardcore as your ride though. I'll bring the:beer:
Has anyone who's done this run into approach angle problems?
That setup looks really nice except for how far forward it puts the shackles. It looks as though you'd need to go to something like 33s to maintain your approach angle. I realise most people with that setup would have that size tyre but it's prolly something to consider if you were sticking with 31s or thereabouts.

I know the feeling. Ever since I went spring over my tires have been looking a little bit small. I really don't want to swap out those tires since they are still fairly new. I figure in a year or so I will end up swapping in Toy axles anyways. I'll just jump to 35's at that time.
bobaki 01-07-2002, 06:00 PM you'll have to do some driving ,I have over 50k on my 32 bfg muds and the tires are about half worn ..........:D
Tusker 01-07-2002, 06:36 PM Yeah bobaki, but that's 'cause you only touch the ground half the time when you drive :skull:
zuk88 01-07-2002, 07:29 PM I'm still working on those Toy axles....all it takes is money:rolleyes:

Good luck with the u-bolts. I spent a ton of money trying to find u-bolts that fit. After buying about 5 or 6 sets that didn't work, I finally ordered the Trailmaster/Spidertrax ones. The larger (passenger side) u-bolts were too big, but I found some at Auto Zone that worked on the passenger side. Good luck, I'll dig up those Auto Zone part numbers if ya need me to. ~Steve
zuk88 01-08-2002, 05:59 AM Thanks squirrelman those part #'s would be useful, but I might have mine custom bent at a local shop or I'll call Glenn at RRO. I know he sell 'em for $8 a peice. I used a set of Tomken Machine HD rear U-bolts for a dana 35 on the rear and they worked fine. Just need to find the same beef for the front.:D

I'd watch the shock(2nd pic), it looks as if it would hit the stock bump stop (is that a panhard mount?)duing the cycle, did you move them with the kit?
zuk88 01-08-2002, 05:50 PM Bill,
I still need to trim the bumpstop mount, that line drawn on there is where I'll be cutting. I used a calmini bumpstop extition and some Ford areostar cone style bumpstops with some steel spacers(3/8" thick washers) so I can adjust the lenght of the bumpstop. I have them on all 4 corners and they work awsome

this is a shot with the old Calmini set in front. I can add spacers to the rubber stop and extend it down.....MJDan came up with that for me.
squirrelman83 01-08-2002, 09:33 PM The u-bolts for the larger passenger side plate I used were part number 35511 from Auto Zone. I think they were called something like "Help for leaf spring repair... U-bolt kit" or something along those lines. Also, what lower front shock mounts did you go with? I ordered the TT ones from Brent last week (still need to get those on to measure for shocks). Thanks. ~Steve
zuk88 01-08-2002, 10:12 PM I'm using Rocky Road lowers. They weld to the bottom of the factory spring perches. Thanks for the part #:D
