I need to make some custom brake lines and I was wondering which flaring tool you have used. In the past, I have used the cheap $10 tools, but they don't work. I have heard to use the Ridgid brand from Home Depot. Which model number are you using?

Wow that is alot nicer than the one I used :eek: Mine was a Napa special and it worked fine. Little harder for the double flare but it worked out great. Installed my new Wilwood proportioning valve and my brakes have never been better :D Go for it, and when your done send it to me and I will store it for you (and then finish my Jeep project :rolleyes: ) Did I type that out loud?

I've always used the $3 parts house special. Never really had any problems. You sure as hell don't want to get in a hurry. I did all the hard line on my 14 using it and didn't have any problems.

I have the summit tool and it worsk GREAT!! Looks very similar to the Home Depot one. Buy it, try it....if you don't like it take it back! Just keep it clean.

I went to O'Reillys. They kinda rent tools. Bring your credit card and they will charge it on there - the price of the tool. Bring it back and they will credit your account back 100%. COOL.

I use one similar to the 345.. Mine has two clamps on the bas and a puller looking thing that resembles a pitman arm puller..

It works really nice.. any flairing tool will work as long as it does double flares. Its not really rocket science.. Get a few pieces of different size tubing to practice on and start cutting and flaring. when you feel your confindent enough then do your brake lines..

It should only take you three or four times to be confindent enough..

So Steve, Do you want to come help me with my fuel and brake lines when the time comes.

Either of those would work great for hard line. Just make sure they come with the double flaring attachment to flare the end back in. You have to do that for brakeline or it'll crack.

Lokks like you need the 345-DL for double frares to do brake lines. Would be nice if the top one did doubles.

Sears (Craftsman) has a pretty good flaring tool.

Ive got one of those and its pretty crappy. the tube just slips unless its a soft metal
