I know this is an off-road forum and I found a lot of valuable info on here when I had my Toyota and Samurais but I was wondering if anyone on here knew much about 2wd Isuzu pickup trucks? Are there any forums like these targeted to 2wd Isuzu pickups? I just picked up a 1992 S-model for rather cheap but it needs a little TLC. It has the 2.3 carbed motor and runs strong but the motor is rather oily top to bottom. The timing belt looks good but does have a little oil on it which makes me think the front seal might be leaking. I was wondering how reliable these trucks were and about how long these little engines go? If I thought I could squeeze another 50k out of it I would glady go ahead and do the timing chain and replace the seals and gaskets. I have a Haynes manual and it says that to replace the oil pan gasket you must loosen the motor mounts and lift the motor at least 4 inches? Does this sound right? I don't put too much faith in those Haynes manuals. Sorry for the off topic post so go ahead and flame away!!!

I would recommend going to to www.LUVTruck.com site, since all of the LUV trucks are Isuzs anyway.
Oh yeah, the motor has to be lifted on a diesel, to remove the oilpan but I don't have any experience with the gas models.

Ok, im here now, it will be OK.....seriously.. i have 4 Pups and 2 Rodeos right now, i have had more, but had to remove a few vehicles after iwas done with them. :) Ok, the oil leak is a TSB (technical service bulletin), the gasket on the front lower crank cover leaks.it just a piece of paper practically. isuzu called this a gasket. Its alitttle out of warranty, so i think you are on your own. The other problem with 2.3L, among many, is the fuel pump goes bad and pumps oil down the passengerside of the motor, sometimes imitaing an oil pan leak. look for a black hose between the motor mount plate on the passengerside of the motor, if its soaked in oil your pump is on its way out. if you need more help or parts contact me:
