What's the latest on cam and header combos for the 22RE. I have a 92 hilux on which I'm looking to replace timing set with DOA and thought I'd push a new cam in for a little power boost while I'm at it.
Is it worth the $ to put in an aftermarket cam? Is one model/brand recommended over another? Will I still pass emmissions?
I also need to replace the cat and was thinking I'd put a tri-Y header on while I was fooling with the exhaust. Any comments/suggestions on header or cat?
Thanks.

I'll say it before everybody else ... SEARCH!
Since you are getting the timing set from Tim get his C270 cam. This plus the header of your choice into 2.25" pipe will make a big difference.

Hey Lance-
I just recently finished the install on the LC Engineering Street Pro header.
LC Engineering (http://www.lcengineering.com/)
It is combined w/ 2-1/4" pipe, no cat, and a FlowMaster Series 50 DeltaFlow muffler. I've now got a good hy-way road trip to Phx (120+ miles) and averaged 25 mpg with great power gains. With 5.29's and 35" BFG's I was able to run at 80 mph when needed in traffic with power to spare. (about 4200 rpm in 5th)
Offroad, the power is much better in the bottom end, the motor will lug much better, and the mileage was 18 mpg for a 5 hour 90 mile dirt road/trail drive.
I'm very pleased with the gains in performance. I currently have no plans for the install on a cam-

Pappy - CAM is only 3 letters, can't search Pirate4x4 on only 3 letters.

I run the TRD Level 1 cam, a little milder than the C270, but it had the California smog sticker, so I went with that (and the LC header and Flowmaster muffler). Makes a very nice setup.
