This is a long shot but I was wondering if anyone has done a spring over on an fj60 w/ 700r4 installed. I just about have it finished but I've run into a snag w/ the front drive shaft. right now it has standard toyota u-joint drive shaft & it cannot even come close to handling the droop w/o binding. this normally would not be a problem b/c I would just go w/ a c/v joint & call it good. but here is where the problem starts, there is not enough room in between the tcase output flange & the 700r4 pan & case to fit a c/v joint. I could possibly grind the tranny to fit, but I really dont want to do this & I 'm not even sure if I could clearance it enough to fit before wrecking the tranny. I don't think I could grind the flanges on the existing universal joint enough to make up for the estimated 5 or 6 degrees I need to allow for full droop. my other problem is that I went w/ a cruiser vendor to cut & turn a housing for me & despite my request to rotate the pinion up 14 degrees he did it only 9 degrees (I do all my own now). so before I start calling driveshaft shops I'd like to get a few ideas from anyone who may have done this in the past.

TIA

okay- first off we should be able to get you a 41 degree capable single joint that is pretty tough to clear the t-case and trans i hope the 700 is tight - got any pics? at the diff we should be able to do the same- its a matter of cost - do you need a long travel shaft up front? 530-877-2875 I'd be happy to talk it over with ya-Jess:D

jess,
I'll try & take some pics tonight & email them to you tommorow. if I had to guess at the angle I need @ the transfer case I would guess about 20-25 degrees max. I tried to call but your #'s been busy. I'm trying not to spend too much $$$ but I still want something to work right. I think I might have enough room if I could get a c/v that is about 1/2" less in diameter than a stock fj60/ ifs toyota c/v joint, but it would still require a bit of grinding. I'll try & call tommorrow.

Thanks
