: I just couldn't wait...
Glenn 01-07-2002, 01:17 PM For my number to come up on the Allprooffroad high-steer arms. :( Probably die of old age before that happens so I called Chris and ordered a complete setup. I have a good IFS box and the mounting kit. Is it as straightforward to install as it appears to be? Anybody have any problems with doing one of these?? Anything out of the ordinary I should be aware of... :D:D:D Thanks...

just make sure you mount it as far forward as you can.
and make sure you have it clocked nicely otherwise you will have issues. and there is minor fender trimming.

Yeah, what he said. Mine is now 5" to the first hole from the front of the frame :D:D:D:D.
pmurf1 01-07-2002, 05:06 PM Just plate the inside of the frame with a minimum of 3/16" steel and get a good drill bit. It's a fairly easy project.

I was wondering about that 7" thing in the instructions from all-pro. Was wondering how they came up with that number and if it was set in stone. I am installing my hysteer this week and when setting it up to preview it seemed 7" was a little far back, what happens if I move my axle in the future?? Where did allpro get that number??
Cable Guy 01-07-2002, 06:53 PM Hey Glenn, are you going to be selling your old arms and tie rod?

I don't know if it's my frame, steering box or what, but when I was at 7", axle at 1" forward, the tierod and draglink would hit each other right at full compression. I've just moved my box forward to the 5" mark, and the axle the full 2" forward. Look's like it'll be good now :D:D:D:D.

I'm sure I won't have a need for the old stuff after I get the high-steer on there so I probably will be selling it as well as both the spares I have too. I don't know when I will actually get it done. Right now we're working on the exo cage when the weather isn't crappy. Just have to find the time... If you want dibs, send me an email. :D:D:D Thanks for all the replies too...

I did the same thing. The All Pro template puts the box to far back. Even with the axle in the stock location the tierod and draglink still hit. I emailed Chris about it around 6 months ago when I first put it in about the template being wrong and all I got was " if the box is installed correctly there shouldn't be any problems". He was right, just don't use APs template.
Now mine sits 4.5" back and there's no problem :D
And just to be safe I put 3/16 plate on both sides of the frame...http://http://community.webshots.com/storage/1/v4/6/72/40/27467240dngziFQdoO_ph.jpg

I followed the AP instructions back when I did my High Steer, then just recently moved my front axle forward 2.5" by redrilling the perch and plate. If my Drag Link traveled striaght up, it would hit my Tie Rod, but as the spring flattens out, the shackle moves back and my Tie Rod and Drag Link clear, but just barely!!

Thanks for the offer. :D I'm not in a hurry though. I think I will have everything I need to do it. Just gotta find time and motivation to crawl under there. Rig is getting the exocage built at the moment. Dustin is doing it but he has a full time job and a family life so he has to fit in a block of time here and there. It's tough. We got some more done last night. Forgot my digicam this time but more pics will show up soon... :D:D
Oh yeah, I'm gonna swap in that 44 someday but probably just gonna run the Toyota axles for a while. I have all kinds of spare parts, birfs, etc...
