Hey all,
I've been reassembling my transfer case, and I put the idler gear in place, I put the spacer in the middle and a shim pack on each side and the bearings are seated nicely against the side of the case, however, the idler gear itself has some play in it, I can slide the whole thing forwards and backwards, I know it is assembled correctly on the inside and the only way I see eliminating the play would be to add a shim on the ends of the bearings. So this makes me think that this play is supposed to be there.
Just checkin with the experts...
BTW, Direct Mount NP205 out of a 79 Ford.
Thanks in advance
