Has anyone put a Rancho 4'' lift on a 3500 truck? I have a 2003 GMC 3500 CC and I was thinking about putting a 4'' lift on my rig. I just want it to look like a 4x4 and not a 2wd truck. I don't want to go over 4'' lift. Does anyone have any input on this?

I am assuming that your truck is a 4wd. IMO, and I install tons of these kits, Go with a Fabtech. Rancho is a good kit, however, it is a true 6" kit. They call it a 4", but trust me it is a 6". So giving that, why not install the Fabtech. The Fabtech kit has a high clear cross member and a skid plate and just looks better under a truck.
If your truck in a 2wd, Fabtech is the only company that can accomodate.
i second the Fabtech lift.. they make a bout the best product you can buy .. but if you really want the rancho its still a good lift..

Yes, I have a 4wd. I don't know much about the fabtech kit.
http://www.fabtechmotorsports.com/html/k2500hd.html .. they dont have a 3500 listed on the web site but they porbably have it .. but all i see is a 6 or 8in lift kits for the 2500 .. just check it out ..

i belive the rancho kit is a one piece sub frame that is welded together (check up on that) should make it stronger. but the fabtech kit has an arc in the front crossmember that allows for more clearance. they usually have taller lifts. what year 3500 is it?

I have installed tons of both kits. VERY happy with both of them. The Rancho does have a one piece sub frame, which would be stronger with an impact. IMO, if you have an impact that will bend the lower control arm (which connects the two crossmembers) the one piece subframe would help very little. But that is an un-tested thoery.
IMO the Fabtech fits and looks better. If it were my truck, I would install one of three kits. Fabtech, Rancho, or RCD. Never touch Pro Comp, Trailmaster, or Superlift for the ifs Chevy. The jury is still out on Skyjacker because I don't install many.

I've don Fabtech and RCD, I have the 8" Fabtech on my "03 Chevy 2500. if you want to stick with less lift, go with the RCD, they advertise 6" but the lift is really like 4". Also, we put a new set of torsion bar keys and some small blocks on my buddies "02. He fits the metric equivelant of 33's just fine. he found the new keys on the internet somewhere.

if the 2500 suspension is very similar to the 3500 they might work, ive never seen an advertised 3500 lift. could be wrong. (IIRC) the skyjacker requires no cutting or welding, so it can be returned to factory specs if need be. just a thought. but thats for the 1500 i have no idea about 3500 :flipoff2:

I was looking at the skyjacker kit aswell. I like the idea that it is a full bolt on kit (atleat that is what they say). I just don't what to go too high cause I do have a dually. I plan on putting 35'' tires too. There isn't many 4'' kits for my truck.
i have a rancho lift kit on my 2000 cc. it is a true 4" lift kit. i hunted around because i did not want a 6" lift to run 33" tires. it is my tow rig. the kit is a subassembly. very nice kit. takes a while to install. i have attached a picture. sorry but this is about as far off road as i get this tank. bboy
