: Anyone Model a YJ Frame in CAD??
JHarsany 01-07-2002, 03:30 PM If so, what file format? Also does anyone have a drawing with dimensions on it? I have seen the one from the FSM and that doesn't have enough info on it. I am thinking about building a custom suspension and want to model it first. TIA

I searched, and found nothing but dead links like these.
Corn_Smuggler 05-28-2004, 04:18 PM It's been a while since I looked at it, but you are welcome to see if you can use it... I think it's a YJ.

YJ_Jeff 05-28-2004, 07:09 PM What did you use to create that file? I've got AutoCad 12 but it says the drawing is incompatible.

Corn_Smuggler 05-28-2004, 07:40 PM I *think* it is a 2002 design. Version 12 is pretty old, I remember learning on Version 14 when I was in college (grad in '98). Might want to see if they still have updates for 12... or check it out in one of the free viewers.
BTW... I didn't create it, I don't want to take credit for someone elses work. I just downloaded it a while back for some design plans I have.
I could see basic Views in IE. I didn't see a frame on it though.
YJ_Jeff 05-29-2004, 08:52 AM I suppose version 12 is getting old. I learned on version 9 when it first came out. I'm no longer working as a draftsman so I'm most likely not going to be upgrading anytime soon.
Any chance someone could export the files as either an older version or as a DXF file?
Thanks,
-Jeff

I am just downloading it now. I have several versions of AutoCAD from R12 to 2004. I will see what I can do. I will post again when I have it done. :)
1TonCJ-7 05-31-2004, 10:10 AM I just converted it to R12 format. Still want it? It is over 4.5 megs once it was changed to R12. Not really what I was after, but it is definately a cool drawing. I bet it took some time to do. Here is a screen shot of one of the views.

Let me know if you want ot or not. I am only dial-up at a max speed of 26.4 on a good day. So it will take me awhile to upload it.
Corn_Smuggler 05-31-2004, 10:59 AM That's actually not the one I thought I was posting. I *think* I have another around here that has the frame dimensions... I just need to find out which computer and hard drive it's on... if I even still have it. :barf:
*I had a "garage computer" with all kinds of reference stuff, FSM's, schematics, etc... and it was stolen a few months back. :shaking: I am hoping it wasn't on that one.*
YJBrian 05-31-2004, 02:17 PM Here is a picture with dimensions I have downloaded from somewhere. I am in the process of converting this into a 3d CAD model of the frame, but with everything else I am dong, this is going really slow.

I'll post the file if I ever get it completed.

That is exactly what I was after. Would have been better in CAD already :D, but that is close enough for me! Thanks :cool2:
Cyrus 05-14-2009, 09:24 AM any one has the frame drawings yet? all the above links are dead.

this thread has some good stuff
Cyrus 05-15-2009, 03:02 AM sweet, the cad library link, that just made my day:)
Not ready at all, but it is a start. the drawing is made in autocad with prosteel. I also want to model a 4 link suspension.
for making this drawing, I used the yj frame pictures as a background to make the drawing.
