Going to install 80 suburban 4x4 front axle onto 56 suburban frame. Blasted all old shackles and hangers. Reusing 80 rear shackle etc, fabbing NEW front hangers. All this to mount New 4"
springs. THE QUESTION: new sring eye to eye = 45", distance
between eyes on existing 80 is 48". How do I compress the new spring to fit when I am attaching to the frame with no weight.
I.E. no body and no eng etc. Jacking axle up will lift the light weight frame up,no spring flex. Does 45" going to 48" sound right? Could I have my mother-in-law sit on it or what? whats the procedure here?
