This is sorta out of my realm of expertise. I am a Jeep guy, but my brother in law and I are putting a 327 in his Toyota. He called me tonight and is looking for a low profile distributor cap due to space concerns. He has an MSD ignition and would like to keep that. Can he just get the cap? Will he have to get the whole distributor? I think ACCEL makes one, but we are having a hard time finding info. I looked on www.mrgasket.com Does anybody else have anything they could help me with? Thanks.

When I helped put a 350 in one of my friends toyota . the motor fit right in there with the help of I think a 3 inch body lift and we had to smash the fire wall in so there would be room for the cap that was are last resort.

That is about the point we are to. Actually, we might cut it and build a little box. He does have a 3" body, but the way he wants to put it in there it's just tough to fit. It will sit very low and far back in the compartment.

well than it is going to have a overheating problem till the motor starts to get broke in. My friend had to run a electric fan a 5 gallon radiator and ran no thermostat for a couple months and that temp gauge was pegged all the time even in the first 10 minutes of driving it. that is just what we ran into you may have better luck then my friend.

 something sounds fishy... a rebuilt motor just doesn't heat up till it's broke in. did you guys put a fan shroud back on it? set the fan too far away from the radiator? too much gap between fan and shroud? I'm not callin bullchit yet. I just think there is another reason it was heating up.

BTW any low-pro cap for a Chevy V8 will work. Sometimes I have better luck with parts guys if I ask for something from a 350 than a 327. FWIW

I have done many V8 Toyota swaps and I have found that the "Mallory Unlite" distributor (1/2 size of HEI) is VERY VERY NICE when "clearance" is a concern for the firewall. body Lifts do help too!!.... look at my new web site and You'll see my trucks and some that I've built. Any ques. just e-mail or ask......Good Luck:beer: :D
