Looking in the JCwhitney catalog, they have tons of listings for F150 rear springs. I want 2 1/2" wide flexy springs for a YJ with most of its body, a 350, sm465 and d60's f and r.

(option 1) -80-96 F100 F150, 2wd 1390 lbs. capacity, 4 leaves

(option 2) -80-96 F100 F150, 2wd 1654 lbs. capacity, 5HD leaves

Or forget F150s and go with dakotas

(option 3) -86-96 2wd and 4wd 2550 lbs. capacity, 4HD leaves

I am extending the wheelbase and want the longest springs I can reasonably get without killing my approach and departure angles. The Jeep will have a shackle reversal. I have all the stock bracketry cut off the frame so I am starting basically from scratch as far as mounting the springs go. I was shooting for a wheelbase 104" or so...on 38's.

I have option 2...that 5th leaf is an overload , I took that out.

If I was to do it again, I'd do Dakotas. Just as much wheelbase with a better departure than F150s.

Do those springs work well for you? Got pics?

I have stock F150 leaves from the pnp on my CJ f&r. I removed the overload leaf from each of them. If had them on the rear for over a year with no loss in height or s shape. Nice cushy ride too! I've only had them on the front for one trip, so time will tell if they hold up to the added wieght of the front of the rig.

Rear- I used my stock front hangers and built rod ends sticking out the frame ends for shackle hangers.

Front- I built a shackle reversal right at the front of the frame and the shackle hangers are poly bushings through the frame between the body mount and crossmember.

wheelbase is 103"

I run 37s have not had an issue with departure/approach angle.

Dakota springs would work better IMO. I have seen far too many 150 springs bent, rigs with bigger than 38's anyway

Not sure if the pics are going to work or not, but I definitely suggest the durango/dakota option. I run stock Durango's in the rear of my CJ (stock whipped waggy's up front). I absolutely love the durango's so far (I want 44044's up front next). Not too many trips on them yet though. Several local trips and one to Tellico. They'll get more beating in Attica this weekend :) The flex is great and seems very "controlled". None of the pics (if they work) do justice to the flex, but I have yet to lift a tire so that is saying something. anyhow, hope the pics work. good luck.
