Who has the best soft top and doors for my 69 FJ40?

I think the only options are the Specialty Top Co at $737, a besttop for ??$, or a factory soft top for ??$.

I'd also like to know more about these tops. My old style (15 year old) kayline needs to be replaced. The thing about it that drives me nuts is the side windows on the soft doors are a about 8 inches lower than the windshield...I have to duck down to look out a side window:mad:

Coolcruisers.com sells both Kayline and Besttop. Same price, different features.

I like the Kayline since it has the tracks that don't require snaps to be drilled into the tub.

Okay...which soft top has the top of the door windows (soft doors) closer to the same height as the top of the windshield?

This absolutely drives me nuts and gives me a back ache to have to lean over (hunch down) slightly to look out a side window.
That is really what will make my decision on which top to buy.

The besttop tigertop works well for me, with the exception of irratating snaps. I just helped put one of the fasttrack tops on another truck and HATED it. It was an early style 40 (a 63) and it just DID NOT fit. That and the fact that it hangs over the back when down, and the door rails (soft top frame) are really low.
Plus those side rails are a pain since they are exposed, and wheeling up here has a good amount of trees hitting the sides- I just forsee problems.
The tiger top has better doors, but the latches suck, and require the use of the frame to be up. I have had two of these tops now, get the canvas or denim one. Much better fit and much less noise than the vinal.
The only other thing about the tigertop is the zippers are kinda cheezy and small.
Mine has taken some pretty good smacks in the woods and still seems to be pretty straight.

I am going to guess and say it's the Kayline top. I had a best top on mine and I don't remember that problem.

Check this pic out, looks like the top of the doors is much lower then the top of the windshield.

i had a bestop too many years ago and HATED it!!! piss poor fit, too loose over the cab, too tight in back. snaps kept breaking, elastic straps for windows stretched out in the first few months, velcro over and behind the door didn't hold.

i bought a kayline this time (haven't installed it yet), but understand that they can be finicky...they don't like the chilly weather. and, if you use kayline's doors, remove all the belt loops from your pants now, otherwise the striker pins will take them off for you.

I bought a softy from specter, I believe it is a bestop. I had a kayline before, didn't like the doors. Bestop is pretty nice, although i would always rather have a hard top. I can E-mail a pic if you want, just e-mail me b/c i don't have time to check the board often.

I run a Kayline top with the stock hard doors. It makes for a nice setup because I still lose all the weight of the hard top, but still have roll up windows. That makes it nice when I'm hauling ass on dirt road and come around a corner to a big mud puddle, just reach over and roll the window up quick, no zippers.

The Kayline (now Specialty) also blocks side view. Bad on trails--very bad on road.
