I'm just wondering if any of you guys might have an answer on this. I have a 330 MD block ( FT series of motor ) that I am wanting to use if possible for a rebuild for my '63 F-100 4x4. Does anybody have an idea what kind of overbore they will take? Casting # C7ME, with an " X " cast into one cylinder bank in lifter galley. Current bore is 3.875 + .060, can this go to standard 4.050 390 spec's? Any help will be appreciated. Truck currently has 390 w/ T-98 combo. Thanks, Al

is it a 332 FE? if so, those motors will take a ton of over boring. a guy i know bored a 352 .080 over with no clearance problems. hope we're talking about the same motor.

Nope, its an FT series, a 330 MD, 3.875 bore x 3.5 stroke, has the long skinny 352/360 rods. Also came with a 9qt oil pan, which I won't be able to use, but might make a nice little grill for when your down by the creek. Nobody knows anything about this block, or what its capable of? Oh well, thanks. Al

FT is the industrial version of the FE, also in this family are the 361 and 391. Block is heaver cast than a standard FE unit, crank is forged, all kinds of good stuff.
As to overboring it, I have no sweet clue.

You might try and locate a good engine rebuilder that has a sonic cylinder wall thickness checker. These devices are used by many high performance rebuilders to check for core shift and cylinder wall defects prior to putting a lot of work in a block. Then only to find that a core shift has rendered one cylinder wall only 0.060" thick after reboring.
